Patrice Abry is a CNRS Researcher at École Normale Supérieure de Lyon, affiliated with the Department of Physics. His research focuses on multifractal analysis, wavelet transforms, and scaling phenomena with applications in signal processing, biomedical data analysis, and network traffic metrology.
- Key Research Areas: Multifractal theory, wavelet leaders, scaling laws in physiology, internet traffic modeling, and turbulence.
- Projects: ANR MultiFracs (multifractal analysis), ANR FETUSES (fetal heart rate variability and acidosis detection), and interdisciplinary work with medical teams (Hospices Civils de Lyon) and international institutions.
- Awards:
- Best Paper Award at EUSIPCO 2016
- Prix Monpetit from the Académie des Sciences (2020)
- Collaborations: National Institute of Informatics (Tokyo), University of Melbourne, and Institut Mines-Télécom.
- PhD Students: Jordan Frecon, Florian Angeletti, Herwig Wendt, Bruno Lashermes, and Pierre Chainais.
His team has developed tools for analyzing multifractal properties, fetal health monitoring, and anomaly detection in internet traffic. During the 2020 pandemic, he contributed to Bayesian frameworks for estimating the reproduction number R(t) with credibility intervals and public interactive maps.
