Abishek Stephen is a Research Fellow at the Institute of German Language and Linguistics, Humboldt University of Berlin, affiliated with the Collaborative Research Centre 1412 (CRC1412) and Integrated Graduate School.
He holds a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics and a Master's degree in Linguistics from the University of Delhi's Department of Linguistics.
Stephen's research centers on Experimental Syntax, Morphology, Psycholinguistics, Sociolinguistics, and Corpus Linguistics, with emphasis on second language acquisition of German by Hindi speakers and code-switching phenomena from theoretical and experimental perspectives. His work investigates morphological/syntactic constraints in L2 acquisition and leverages corpus-based methodologies.
As part of CRC1412 project C04 "Register knowledge in advanced learner language," he collaborates on advanced learner language research, presenting findings at the 2022 Kolloquium SFB1412 with Zahra Farokhnejad.
