Abigail Modaff is an Instructional Assistant Professor at the University of Houston Honors College, teaching American History after 1877. She earned her doctorate, master's, and bachelor's degrees from Harvard University and Cambridge University respectively, focusing on communication and social reform in American history.

Her research explores American intellectual history, social reform movements, and women's roles in literary and ideological communities. Her award-winning dissertation examined communication in movements from Haymarket to the Harlem Renaissance, and her current book project, The Ladies’ Pioneer Society, investigates women's collaborative reading practices in America.
