Abigail Brundin is a Professor of Italian and Fellow of St Catharine’s College at the University of Cambridge. She serves as Director of the British School at Rome (BSR) since September 2021 and previously held the role of Chair of the Faculty of Modern and Medieval Languages and Linguistics. Her research focuses on Italian literature and literary history from the early print era, emphasizing marginalized voices such as women and religious minorities. She leads projects on historic libraries in English country houses, collaborating with organizations like the National Trust and English Heritage. Her scholarly work bridges cultural history and material culture, particularly through studies of books and their circulation during the Grand Tour. She actively promotes interdisciplinary research and has contributed to initiatives like the BIRI Digital Coordination and Strategy project, which highlights underrepresented narratives in scholarship. Recent institutional contributions include coordinating postdoctoral fellowships and publishing endeavors, such as John Osborne’s final volume on medieval Rome through the BSR Studies Series.
