Abhishek Malhotra is an Assistant Professor at the Institute of Public Policy, Indian Institute of Technology Delhi. He holds a PhD in Energy and Technology Policy from ETH Zurich (2019), an MSc in Energy Science and Technology from ETH Zurich, and a B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering from IIT Delhi. His research focuses on policy design for low-carbon development, emphasizing multi-objective energy policies and technology-specific interventions. He has worked as a consultant for UNDP and at UNCTAD, and contributed to IRENA initiatives.

Research Interests: His work bridges technology innovation and policy, exploring how policies can enable green industrialization. Recent studies examine catch-up strategies in lithium-ion batteries and renewable energy systems, as well as policy mixes for India's power sector.
Publications: His work spans environmental policy, innovation economics, and energy systems. Key themes include knowledge transfer mechanisms, modular product architectures, and derisking renewable energy investments.
Awards: Recipient of Swiss Government ESKAS Scholarship (2015-2019) and NTSE Scholarship (2006).
Advising & Grants: Advisor on energy policy projects; contributed to UNDP's derisking frameworks for off-grid electrification.
