Abhishek Gupta

Dr. Abhishek Gupta is a Research Fellow affiliated with the Translational Health Research Institute (THRI) and the School of Science at Western Sydney University. He leads research in medical nanotechnology with a focus on MRI applications and targeted drug delivery systems.

His educational background includes a PhD in medical nanotechnology from CSIRO and Western Sydney University (2016), a Bachelor of Medical Science (Honours, Class 1) (2012), and a Bachelor of Science in Nanotechnology with Distinction (2011). During his academic training, he received numerous prestigious awards including the University Medal and Dean's Medal.

Dr. Gupta's research primarily focuses on developing biochemically responsive nanoparticles for targeted delivery of drugs and MRI contrast agents, as well as advancing NMR, MRI and relaxometry techniques. His work bridges nanotechnology with medical imaging to improve diagnostic capabilities and therapeutic outcomes.

His most recent funding includes a Cancer Council NSW Project Grant ($436,887, 2022-2024) and a Research Support Program Fellowship from THRI (2021).
