Abhipsa Chakraborty

Abhipsa Chakraborty is a Marion L. Brittain Postdoctoral Fellow at the Georgia Institute of Technology’s School of Literature, Media, and Communication. She holds a PhD in English from SUNY Buffalo, specializing in global modernist and postcolonial literatures, and digital humanities. Previously, she taught as an Assistant Professor at the University of Delhi, India. Her research focuses on sound studies, caste politics, and postcolonial literatures, with a particular interest in digital humanities projects like her role as Assistant Technical Project Manager for the Marianne Moore Digital Archive.

Research Interests: Her work bridges literary analysis with digital tools, examining themes such as caste, sound in literature and film, and postcolonial identity. She explores how literary sound and oral traditions critique colonialism, gender, and caste systems. Recent projects include analyzing Mulk Raj Anand’s Untouchable and Vishal Bhardwaj’s Haider through sound studies lenses.

Professional Engagement: She has delivered invited talks on topics like intersectionality in Dalit politics, sound in literature, and digital humanities. Her technical skills include TEI XML, GitHub, and UX/UI design. She also organizes academic events, such as chairing panels on pandemic-era activism and feminist politics.

Current Projects: Leads the Marianne Moore Digital Archive project, focusing on text encoding and digital curation. Explores interdisciplinary methods to visualize care infrastructures and postcolonial literatures.
