Dr. Abel Reiberg is a Researcher at the John F. Kennedy Institute, Freie Universität Berlin. His current research focuses on Trust and Transparency in Times of Surveillance, examining collaborations between state and non-state actors in internet surveillance. Previously, he served as a research associate at the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster and as a guest researcher at the WZB Berlin Social Science Center. His doctoral work, Netzpolitik - Genese eines Politikfeldes (forthcoming), explores the emergence of internet policy as a distinct policy domain.
Education:
- PhD in Political Science (in progress/completed)
- Masters/BA studies in Political Science at LMU München, Wayne State University (Detroit), and Universität zu Köln
Research Interests: Internet governance, surveillance studies, political theory, regime theory, and advanced text analysis methods (quantitative and qualitative).
Grants/Projects: Lead researcher on the DFG-funded project investigating surveillance dynamics. Collaborative work on discourse analysis in German parliamentary debates (2018) and policy domain formation (2017).
Labs/Teams: Affiliated with the John F. Kennedy Institute’s research initiatives on digital politics and governance.
