Abdus Sattar is a Professor in the Department of Population and Quantitative Health Sciences at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. His expertise lies in complex longitudinal studies, biostatistical methods for survival and high-dimensional data, and clinical research on multiple chronic conditions. He teaches advanced biostatistics courses such as Design and Analysis of High-Dimensional Data and Categorical Data Analysis.
Education:
- PhD in Biostatistics, University of Pittsburgh (2009)
- MS in Mathematics, Texas A&M University (2004)
- MS in Statistics, Texas A&M University (2003)
Research Interests: He focuses on statistical methods for longitudinal and survival data, including random-effects models, joint modeling, Bayesian semiparametric regression, and dynamic treatment regimens. His clinical work addresses HIV/AIDS, cardiovascular diseases, and pediatric health challenges.
Grants & Awards: He leads NIH-funded projects on GLP-1 receptor agonists in HIV-associated lipohypertrophy, fatigue management in multiple sclerosis, and maternal care for technology-dependent infants. His awards include the ENAR Workshop Travel Support (2012) and the University of Alabama Bursary Service Award (2011).
Advising & Teaching: He mentors students and postdoctoral fellows in biostatistics, advising on methodological and clinical projects. His courses emphasize practical applications of statistical methods in health sciences.
