Prof. Dr. Abdullah Aydın is a distinguished scholar of Classical Turkish Literature currently serving as a Professor in the Department of Turkish Language and Literature at Kastamonu University's Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. With over two decades of academic experience, he previously held positions as Associate Professor at both Kastamonu University and Bingöl University, and as Assistant Professor at Bingöl University. He has also served in significant administrative roles including Institute Director at Kastamonu University since 2023, Department Head, and Science Branch Head.
His academic journey began with a BA from Gazi University's Faculty of Education, Department of Turkish and Social Sciences Education (1996-2000), followed by a Master's degree (2000-2003) and PhD (2003-2009) from Gazi University's Institute of Social Sciences in Old Turkish Literature. His academic credentials reflect deep expertise in Turkish literary traditions.
Aydın's research primarily focuses on Classical Turkish Literature within and outside the Ottoman context, with special emphasis on Divan poetry, poetic traditions, literary history, and manuscript studies. His scholarly work explores the intricate connections between folk and classical literary traditions, Ottoman poetic conventions, social commentary in poetry, and historical representations in literary texts. His research bridges historical analysis with literary criticism, revealing the rich tapestry of Turkish literary heritage.
His extensive publication record including 79 works demonstrates a consistent research trajectory focused on Ottoman literary history, Divan poetry analysis, and Turkish literary heritage. His most recent works show a continued interest in poetic traditions, literary comparisons between folk and classical forms, and historical representations in literature. His publications span journal articles, books, and book chapters, with significant contributions to the understanding of specific poets like Hanyalı Nûrî and literary phenomena like poetic debates and naming practices.
