Abdulcabbar Yavuz is an Associate Professor in the Department of Metallurgy and Materials Engineering at Gaziantep University's Faculty of Engineering. He holds a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Leicester (2010-2015) and a Licence degree from Ankara University's Faculty of Science, Department of Chemistry (2004-2007). Dr. Yavuz has held various academic positions at Gaziantep University, progressing from Research Assistant (2015-2018) to Doctor Lecturer (2018-2021), and currently serves as Associate Professor (2021-present).
His research spans multiple areas within materials science and engineering, with a primary focus on Materials and Metallurgical Engineering, Material Surface Treatments, Corrosion, and Material Production Technologies. Dr. Yavuz has made significant contributions to the development of energy storage materials, particularly in the field of supercapacitors and flexible electrodes. His work combines experimental materials engineering with advanced computational techniques for microstructural analysis.
Dr. Yavuz's publication record shows a strong trend toward interdisciplinary research connecting materials science, electrochemistry, and computer vision. His recent work integrates machine learning approaches for microstructural analysis with traditional materials engineering, while maintaining a strong focus on practical applications in energy storage. He has published extensively on flexible supercapacitor electrodes, corrosion resistance techniques, and sustainable materials development.
As an academic leader, Dr. Yavuz has served as Deputy Dean (2021-2024) and Department Head (2020-2022, 2023-2026) at Gaziantep University. He has supervised numerous doctoral and master's students, with completed theses focusing on flexible electrode design, supercapacitor applications, and energy storage materials. His research has been supported by multiple national projects related to laboratory infrastructure development, laser metal shaping, and energy storage materials.
