Prof. Yavuz SUN is a Professor and Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at Karabük University, specializing in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering. He holds a PhD in Materials from Istanbul Technical University (2005) and has been a faculty member since 2009. His research focuses on tribology, composite materials, alloy development, and metallic materials. SUN has advised over 20 PhD and master’s students, with notable projects including studies on magnesium alloys, wear-resistant composites, and biocompatible materials.
His work includes 178 publications, with a focus on metallic materials' mechanical and corrosion properties. Notable projects involve developing new manufacturing techniques like powder metallurgy and functional graded materials. SUN leads the Iron-Steel Institute at Karabük University and has achieved an h-index of 22. His contributions span academic leadership, industry collaboration (e.g., Kardemir Steel), and advanced materials for automotive, biomedical, and energy sectors.
