Dr. Abdul Goni is a full-time Assistant Professor in the Department of Biological and Physical Sciences at South Carolina State University (SCSU), where he has been since August 2021. He actively participates in departmental committees and serves as a Principal Investigator (PI) for research projects. His teaching spans lower and upper division chemistry courses, including General Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, and Research in Chemistry.

Research Interests: Dr. Goni’s research focuses on Inorganic Chemistry, Environmental Chemistry, Organometallic Chemistry, Catalysis, and Material Chemistry. His work addresses environmental pollution remediation, carbon capture, ligand design, waste material reuse, and catalytic processes. He emphasizes student engagement in research, particularly in real-world applications of chemistry.
Collaborations & Mentorship: He collaborates with universities in the U.S. and abroad and has mentored undergraduate, graduate, and high school students in research projects. His work has been presented at conferences like the American Chemical Society (ACS) and IUPAC.
Community Involvement: Beyond academia, he participates in community outreach to promote scientific literacy and environmental awareness.
