Abdiel Jacobsen

Abdiel Jacobsen is an Assistant Professor of Dance at Scripps College. They hold an MFA in Dance and serve as a Hustle dance champion, educator, and community organizer dedicated to preserving New York Latin Hustle. Jacobsen co-founded 'Dance is Life' – community dance events facilitating human connection and cultural revitalization.

Their research focuses on gender-neutral partner dance methodologies and cultural preservation through movement. Jacobsen has taught at institutions including Juilliard, Harvard, and Stanford, and previously danced with the Martha Graham Dance Company.

Creative works include the ongoing 'Walk in My Heels' project exploring gender expression through dance, and collaborative performances challenging traditional partner dance roles. Jacobsen's teaching philosophy emphasizes inclusive, trauma-informed approaches that foster communal healing.
