Abdelkrim Hasni is a Full Professor in the Faculty of Education at the University of Sherbrooke, where he has held progressive academic positions since 2000, advancing from Assistant Professor to Full Professor (since 2009). His career spans over two decades of dedicated research and leadership in science education, with particular emphasis on STEM education, curriculum development, and interdisciplinary teaching approaches.
His research interests focus on science education pedagogy, student motivation in science, STEM curriculum development, and interdisciplinary teaching methods. Hasni has pioneered work on project-based learning in science education, socioscientific controversies, and the relationship between student interest and academic achievement in science and technology. His research consistently addresses practical classroom applications while maintaining strong theoretical foundations in educational epistemology.
Analysis of his recent publications reveals a clear trajectory toward understanding how contextualized learning environments (particularly outdoor and place-based education) impact scientific observation skills, how socioscientific controversies can be effectively integrated into science classrooms, and how teacher professional development influences student engagement with science. His work demonstrates increasing international collaboration and methodological sophistication, with numerous cross-cultural studies examining science education practices.
