Prof. Abdallah M. Azzeer is a Professor at King Saud University (KSU), where he leads the Attosecond Science Laboratory (ASL). Established in 2015 through a collaboration between KSU, Max Planck Institute of Quantum Optics (MPQ), and Ludwig-Maximilians-Universitaet Muenchen (LMU), ASL is the first facility of its kind in the Arab Gulf region. The laboratory comprises two units: one dedicated to basic/applied sciences and another focused on Early Detection of Cancer using Lasers (EDCL).
His research integrates quantum optics, Raman laser spectroscopy, and artificial intelligence to pioneer non-invasive cancer diagnostics. Key projects include:
- Developing liquid biopsy tests for early detection of 8+ cancer types (e.g., Breast, Colon, Pancreas) targeting >95% sensitivity.
- Investigating melanin-photon interactions for radiation-resistant biomaterials.
- Advancing ultrashort magnetic field sampling for next-generation medical imaging (e.g., MRI).
He aims to position KSU as a global leader in attosecond physics and oncology research while training scientists in laser physics, AI-driven biomathematics, and medical technology innovation.
