Abby Yeakle Held, DMA, is an Assistant Teaching Professor of Oboe at The Ohio State University since 2021. She teaches applied oboe, reed-making, and chamber music coaching. Previously, she held adjunct professor roles at Stephen F. Austin State University and Lone Star College. Her research focuses on the Viennese oboe, blending historical tradition with modern performance practices.

As a scholar, she authored the landmark article "The Viennese Oboe and its Classical/Romantic Traditions", published in the International Double Reed Society's journal. Her work bridges European and American oboe traditions, with frequent invitations for masterclasses and lecture-recitals across the U.S. She performs with orchestras including the Colorado Symphony and Midland-Odessa Symphony, and has played internationally in Austria and Belgium.

Her pedagogical contributions include co-creating the Double Reed chamber music category and reviewing over 40 works for Texas’ UIL music list. She also serves as an expert instructor for Bocal Majority and Operation O.B.O.E. Camps.
