Abby Saunders, PhD, PA-C, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physician Assistant at Seton Hall University's School of Health and Medical Sciences. Since 2011, she has blended over 25 years of clinical experience in urgent care with transformative teaching, focusing on patient-provider communication, health equity, and inclusive medical education.
- Education: PhD in Higher Education and Leadership (Seton Hall University, 2020); MS in Physician Assistant Studies (University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, 1997); BS in Medical Rehabilitation (Springfield College, 1992).
Her research explores inclusive medical education, LGBTQIA+ healthcare, and simulation-based teaching, with a focus on addressing bias and improving care for marginalized populations. Key projects include the GINGERSNAPSS model for diverse client assessment and curricular integration of trauma-informed care.
Her 2024-2022 articles in Journal of Physician Assistant Education and Journal of Allied Health examine interrater reliability in clinical grading, pandemic-era education adaptations, and sexual history-taking skills. These works span subfields like healthcare equity, cultural competence, and student-driven service projects.

She practices clinically in urgent care, mentors pre-PA students, and serves on committees like the DEI Pedagogy Committee (2025–present) and PAEA Exam Development Board (2024–2025).
