Abby Guido is an Associate Professor and Chair of Design and Illustration at the Tyler School of Art and Architecture, Temple University. Her research centers on collaboration, leadership, and the evolving role of designers in education and practice, emphasizing human-centered design principles and inclusive team-based environments. She actively bridges industry best practices with academic innovation, leading curriculum reforms such as new BFA programs and interdisciplinary minors.
Guido holds an MBA from Temple University's Fox School of Business (2016) and a BFA in Graphic and Interactive Design from Tyler School of Art and Architecture (2001). Her work extends beyond teaching through initiatives like the Design Together podcast, which explores collaborative design challenges and opportunities, and her design studio, Abby Ryan Design, specializing in branding, publishing, and UX/UI projects for clients like the University of Pennsylvania and the American Translators Association.
Her research also intersects with technology and community engagement, exemplified by projects such as RowKeeper (a home maintenance app for Philadelphia rowhouse owners) and the Curriculum Mobile App prototype. These projects focus on solving practical problems through design thinking, supported by grants like Temple University's Summer Research Grant and Presidential Humanities and Arts Program Award.
