Abby Dodds is a Lecturer in Music Therapy at Marietta College's College of Fine Arts, appointed to the faculty in 2022. She teaches courses including Fieldwork in Music Therapy I, Fieldwork in Music Therapy II, Fieldwork in Music Therapy III, Functional Music Skills I, Functional Music Skills II, Observation & Assessment, Voice for Music Therapy, and Music Therapy Foundations I.
Her research and clinical interests focus on Music Therapy, particularly in the areas of:
- Reflexive Music Therapy approaches
- Patient-centered medical music therapy
- Mental health applications of music therapy
- Therapeutic change processes
- Clinical applications across diverse populations
Dodds practices full-time at Camden-Clark Medical Center in Parkersburg, where she developed and facilitates a patient-centered medical music therapy program. Her clinical expertise spans multiple patient populations and settings.
Her professional experience includes:
- Providing care to adult and geriatric patients in medical, inpatient psychiatric, and community settings
- Providing pediatric and newborn health and wellness care
- Supporting neuro-typical adults and teens experiencing anxiety, stress, depression, and life transition
- Working with neuro-divergent adults and children requiring varying degrees of support
- Supporting children and young adults in special education settings
