Abbe Winter

Abbe Winter is a Professor at Queensland University of Technology (QUT), affiliated with the School of Design within the Faculty of Design and Creative Industries. She holds a PhD in Higher Education from QUT (2013) and has over 20 years of academic experience. Her research focuses on co-design methodologies in healthcare environments, gender equity in academia, and mentoring practices. She has led transdisciplinary projects such as the QUT Design Lab's HEAL Report (2021) and co-edited key volumes including *How Designers Are Transforming Healthcare* (2024) and *Confident Supervisors: Creating Independent Researchers* (2023).

Winter's work spans educational spaces analysis (e.g., coffee shops as learning sites), participatory design with youth, and addressing systemic challenges in doctoral education. She pioneered the use of Wendy Belcher's writing program to enhance academic wellbeing and developed reflective peer leadership frameworks. Her research often intersects neoliberalism's impact on higher education structures and gendered dynamics within academic mentorship networks.
