Abbas Dehghan is a Professor in Molecular Epidemiology at the School of Public Health, Imperial College London, within the Faculty of Medicine. He is also the Director of Postgraduate Research at the School of Public Health since 2020. His research focuses on the genetics of omics (e.g., metabolomics), Mendelian Randomization approaches, and causal determinants of complex traits/diseases like cardiometabolic disorders, dementia, and cancers. He leads/co-leads major initiatives such as the CHARGE Consortium and the COMBI-BIO EU-funded project on atherosclerosis metabolomics.
Dr. Dehghan's academic background includes training at Erasmus Medical Center and the Rotterdam Study. His affiliations include the UK Dementia Research Institute, Vasculitis Centre, and Vascular Science Network. His work integrates multi-omics data with genetic epidemiology to identify therapeutic targets.
Notable research areas span cardiovascular epidemiology, genetic determinants of disease, and population health. His recent studies highlight proteomic links to arteriosclerosis, genetic insights into depression, and the impact of SARS-CoV-2 on Alzheimer’s biomarkers. He collaborates globally, emphasizing multi-ethnic cohort analyses and precision medicine.
