Aaron Seider serves as Dean of the Faculty and Professor of Classics at the College of the Holy Cross. His expertise spans Human landscapes of ancient Italy, Gender in antiquity and its reception, and Constructions of memory in Roman culture. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Chicago and an A.B. from Brown University.

Dr. Seider investigates the interplay between environmental control and cultural memory in Roman literature, focusing on gender dynamics in ancient texts. His work explores how Roman authors like Vergil and Catullus shaped societal narratives through epic poetry and elegy, emphasizing themes of identity, power, and historical commemoration.
Recent Publications:
His 2024 articles analyze environmental disorder in the Aeneid and gendered memory in Dido’s lament. Earlier works include studies on Tacitus’ Annals and Catullus 64’s temporal constructs. His 2013 book Memory in Vergil's Aeneid: Creating the Past remains a foundational text in Roman memory studies.
