Aaron Pixton is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematics at the University of Michigan, within the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts (LSA). His research focuses on enumerative algebraic geometry, particularly moduli spaces and their intersection theory. Pixton earned an A.B. (2008) and Ph.D. (2013) from Princeton University under the supervision of Rahul Pandharipande.
His research interests span double ramification cycles, Gromov-Witten theory, and cohomological field theories. He has contributed to the development of the SageMath module admcycles for computations in tautological rings. Teaching includes advanced graduate courses like Math 631 (Algebraic Geometry I) and undergraduate courses such as Explorations in Mathematics.
Pixton advises current students Michael Mueller and Qiusheng Zhao, and previously co-advised Nawaz Sultani (2022) and Rachel Webb (2020). His work bridges geometric and arithmetic aspects of moduli spaces, with recent contributions to elliptic fibrations and quantum cohomology of Hilbert schemes.
