Aaron Hipp is Professor and CGA Fellow for Social and Behavioral Science Applications at North Carolina State University's College of Natural Resources, Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism Management. He directs research through the Center for Geospatial Analytics and serves on the Executive Core for the Global One Health Academy.
His research examines how built environments impact health behaviors using emerging technologies. Key interests include: sensor-based measurement of physical activity, geospatial analysis of park accessibility, workplace health infrastructure, nature exposure impacts on mental health, and equity-focused community engagement. The CAMP Collaborative advances research on how outdoor spaces support active communities.
Recent publications demonstrate methodological innovation in natural experiments (2025), cross-cultural studies of nature prescriptions (2024), historical analysis of environmental injustices (2024), and development of novel health metrics like NatureScore™ (2024). Research consistently integrates geospatial tools with behavioral analysis across diverse populations.
