Aaron D. Levine serves as Associate Dean for Research and Outreach in the Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts and Professor in the School of Public Policy at Georgia Tech. He leads ethics and policy research for the NSF Engineering Research Center for Cell Manufacturing Technologies (CMaT) and previously directed its Engineering Workforce Development activities (2017–2022). His $45M+ in grants include NSF awards and ERC funding.
Education: Ph.D. in Public Affairs from Princeton University, M.Phil. in Biological Sciences from the University of Cambridge (Churchill Scholar), and B.S. in Biology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (Morehead Scholar).
Research focuses on biomedical innovation policy, particularly stem cells, cell therapy ethics, and assisted reproduction governance. Key areas include regulatory frameworks for cell therapies, oversight of unproven interventions, and the societal implications of biotechnology.
Scientific awards include AAAS Honorary Fellowship and Leshner Public Engagement Fellowship. He chairs the ISCT Bioethics Committee and served on the Board of Directors for the American Society for Bioethics and Humanities.
Teaching spans policy analysis, research methods, and STEM ethics, with courses like PUBP-3244: Stem Cell Policy Ethics. Active in science communication, he authored Cloning: A Beginner's Guide and regularly engages public audiences.
Leadership roles include Guest Researcher at CDC’s Division of Reproductive Health (2014–2023) and advisory roles for global bioethics organizations. Current initiatives address cell therapy commercialization challenges and equitable access to advanced treatments.
