His interdisciplinary research integrates GIS/spatial analysis, lithic/ceramic/zooarchaeological analysis, and ethnohistoric sources to study prehistoric societies. Current projects investigate early maize agriculturalists in the Middle Ohio Valley and the impacts of climatic events like the Medieval Climate Anomaly.
Recent publications explore Mississippian migration patterns, agricultural transitions, and climate change's role in societal adaptation. His work emphasizes collaborative, community-engaged archaeology to address contemporary anthropological ethics.
Teaching responsibilities include archaeological field schools in Ohio, Indiana, and Kentucky, with a focus on professional standards through RPA certification.
