- MA, Harvard University, 1994
- BA, UC Berkeley, 1988
Brody's research spans archaeological interpretations of ancient Canaanite, Phoenician, and Israelite society, religion, and economy. He investigates household archaeology, domestic religion, and the materiality of religions while critically examining race, ethnicity, gender, and sexuality in archaeology and the biblical world. His work incorporates postcolonial perspectives on the Persian period and maritime archaeology.
Recent publications focus on Tell en-Nasbeh, analyzing household structures, ethnic identity, and interregional trade during the Iron Age and Persian period. These studies reveal societal transformations in the ancient Levant through material culture analysis, metallurgy, and ceramic evidence.
As Core Doctoral Faculty at GTU, Brody mentors doctoral students in biblical archaeology and related fields, shaping next-generation scholarship in religious and archaeological studies.
