Aaron Aruck is a Visiting Assistant Professor of History at Scripps College. He holds a Ph.D. from UC Santa Cruz and a B.A. from Amherst College. His research focuses on the 20th-century U.S.-Mexico borderlands, examining how transnational efforts to police prostitution and sexual health influenced LGBTQ+ communities, particularly gender non-conforming migrants. His dissertation, “Tracking Contagious Cases: Venereal Disease, Sex Work, and the Making of the Male Homosexual at the US Mexico Border, 1920-1965,” highlights the intersection of public health policies and queer identity formation.
