Aamir Hameed

Dr. Aamir Hameed is Senior Lecturer in Anatomy and Regenerative Medicine at RCSI and Principal Investigator with the Tissue Engineering Research Group. He obtained his MD through cardiovascular regeneration research at RCSI and MBBS from University of Karachi. Hameed completed surgical residencies at Aga Khan University Hospital and research training at MIT and Houston Methodist.

His research develops minimally invasive solutions for cardiovascular diseases. Current focus includes Pumpinheart Ltd. (co-founded 2022), developing an implantable pump for heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF). The technology was selected for MedTech Innovator 2023 cohort and received EI commercialization support. Additional projects include SmartPleuro for malignant effusions (HSE €150K) and targeted drug delivery systems.

Hameed coordinates anatomy education for Graduate Entry Medicine and Paramedic programs. He serves as Review Editor for Frontiers in Medical Technology and contributes to European Society of Cardiology Working Groups on Cardiovascular Surgery and Regenerative Medicine.
