Aaditya Kapil is affiliated with the Geography and Environmental Sciences Department at Northumbria University, where he held a Geoscience Faculty position from April 2021 to September 2022. Previously, he served as a Junior Research Fellow at the National Centre for Polar and Ocean Research (January 2020 – February 2021).
Education:
- BSc (Hons) in Geology, University of Delhi (May 2014 – May 2017)
- MSc in Marine Geology, Cochin University of Science and Technology (June 2017 – August 2019)
Research Focus: His work centers on subglacial environments and quantifying chemical weathering rates using cosmogenic isotopes (e.g., meteoric 10Be). This research explores the role of chemical weathering in regulating Earth's climate via the silicate-carbonate cycle, particularly over glacial-interglacial periods. Key technical skills include soil science, lab-based analytical methods, isotope analysis, and data interpretation.
Labs/Teams: Associated with research groups focused on Environmental Monitoring and Reconstruction, and Cold Environments.
