Amelia Grindey-Bell is a Senior Lecturer in Adult and Primary Care Nursing at Edge Hill University, affiliated with the School of Nursing, Midwifery and Allied Health Professions. She joined the institution in 2004 after six years of clinical work in NHS acute adult services. Her research focuses on loneliness in older adults, particularly within LGBTQ+ communities, and the impact of stigma and discrimination across lifespans. She earned her PhD on the lifelong effects of stigma on loneliness in gay men.
Teaching responsibilities include health promotion, public health, nursing assessment, leadership, and simulation-based learning for MSc Nursing students. She designs virtual and in-person simulations to prepare students for clinical placements.
Her research explores interventions to combat loneliness, with notable work on cost-benefit analyses of community programs for the elderly. Over 7 publications span 2010–2021, emphasizing gerontology, LGBTQ+ health, and public health policy. Her work has been cited in policy documents and accessed widely (e.g., 96 Mendeley readers).
