معرفی
Prof. Ali Bozkurt is a distinguished faculty member at Gaziantep University, Faculty of Education, Department of Mathematics and Science Education. With over 15 years of academic experience, he has progressed from Assistant Professor (2008-2013) to Associate Professor (2013-2019) and currently serves as a full Professor (2019-present) specializing in Mathematics Education. His academic journey began at Selçuk University where he earned his Bachelor's, Master's, and PhD degrees in Mathematics Education.
His educational background includes:
- PhD in Mathematics (2001-2007), Selçuk University, Institute of Science
- Master's in Mathematics (1999-2001), Selçuk University, Institute of Science
- Bachelor's in Mathematics Education (1995-1999), Selçuk University, Faculty of Education
Prof. Bozkurt's research focuses on Mathematics Education with particular emphasis on algebraic thinking habits, geometric reasoning processes, and teacher education. He has developed frameworks for evaluating mathematical activities and has extensively studied how teachers implement mathematical activities in classrooms. His work bridges theoretical perspectives with practical classroom applications, examining ethical dimensions in teaching, adaptation to pandemic challenges, and mathematics education in conflict zones like Northern Syria. He has made significant contributions to understanding teachers' decision-making processes and cognitive aspects of mathematical learning.
His recent publications reveal a strong trend toward examining ethical dimensions in mathematics teaching, implementation of mathematical activities, and adapting teaching methods to challenging contexts. His research spans both theoretical frameworks and practical classroom applications, with increasing focus on teacher decision-making processes and cognitive aspects of mathematical learning. He has developed the Activity Evaluation and Feedback Tool (AEFT) and studied its reliability using generalizability theory.
Prof. Bozkurt has been actively involved in numerous research projects, particularly those funded by TÜBİTAK. These projects include 'Innovative and Technology-Supported Mathematics Education from Theory to Practice' (2022-2023, 2024), 'Determining the Quality of Mathematics Teaching in Middle School Classes' (2015-2016), and 'Development of an Evaluation and Feedback Tool for Mathematical Activity Design' (2020-2022). He has served as principal investigator and expert in national and international projects, demonstrating strong leadership in mathematics education research.
His work with students and research teams has resulted in extensive scholarly output including 31 books and book chapters, 59 journal articles, and 74 conference papers. He has contributed significantly to middle school mathematics textbooks published by the Turkish Ministry of National Education and has been instrumental in developing frameworks for evaluating mathematical activities and studying their implementation in classrooms.
