A. Michael Froomkin is the Laurie Silvers and Mitchell Rubenstein Distinguished Professor of Law at the University of Miami School of Law. His research focuses on artificial intelligence, privacy law, robotics policy, and constitutional law. He has led conferences like 'We Robot' and co-founded Jotwell, a legal blog network. His work bridges technology and law, addressing issues like AI regulation, surveillance, and digital privacy.
Teaching includes Administrative Law, AI Law & Policy, and Constitutional Crisis seminars. He received the 2020 University of Miami Distinguished Faculty Scholar Award. Froomkin is affiliated with the University of Miami's Institute for Data Science and Computing and serves on editorial boards for legal journals. Due to health concerns, he currently teaches virtually.
Research interests span AI ethics, robot regulation, and privacy theory. Recent projects include exploring constitutional reforms and AI's impact on healthcare. His publications address topics like liability for autonomous systems and legal frameworks for emerging technologies.
