Dr. Željko Z. Pavković is a Senior Research Associate at the Department of Neurobiology, Institute for Biological Research "Siniša Stanković", University of Belgrade, a National Institute of the Republic of Serbia. He has been employed at the Laboratory for Molecular Neurobiology and Behavior since 2012.
Dr. Pavković attended the Faculty of Biology, University of Belgrade from 2005 to 2010, where he completed his diploma thesis on "Odonata population in the Belgrade coast during the summer period of 2010: dynamism and habitat preferences of the most common species" at the Department of Animal Ecology and Geography. He later pursued doctoral studies at the Faculty of Biology, University of Belgrade, completing his dissertation entitled "Effects of propofol-induced anesthesia on synaptic plasticity, activity of the dopamine system and behavior of juvenile rats."
His research focuses on examining pharmacological and social factors in neurodegenerative disorders and neurodevelopment. His key research areas include learning and memory, emotions and sociability, psychostimulation, maladaptive behavior and addiction, adolescence, and rodent models of neurodevelopmental and neurodegenerative diseases. He has contributed to the fields of Behavioural biology, Animal Physiology, and Neurobiology and nervous system diseases.
Dr. Pavković has participated in two research projects financed by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development of the Republic of Serbia (173051 and 173056). During 2020/21, he was engaged as a collaborator in the Covid-19 laboratory under the Directorate for National Laboratories, Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management of the Republic of Serbia.

Dr. Pavković is a member of the Neuroscience Society of Serbia (DNS), the Serbian Biological Society, and the Federation of European Neuroscience Societies (FENS).
