He holds a PhD from Gülhane Military Medical Academy (GATA), with extensive experience in academic leadership roles including Director of GATA’s Department of Medical Pharmacology (2003–2011). His research focuses on neuropsychopharmacology, behavioral neuroscience, addiction mechanisms, schizophrenia, and agmatine’s role in neurological processes.
Education and Academic Titles:
- BSc: Istanbul University Faculty of Pharmacy (1982)
- MSc: GATA Faculty of Medicine Department of Medical Pharmacology (1988)
- PhD: GATA (1992)
- Associate Professorship: GATA (1995)
- Professorship: GATA (2003)
Research Interests:
His work investigates addiction neurobiology, schizophrenia pathophysiology, and agmatine’s therapeutic potential. Notable contributions include studies on ethanol withdrawal, neuropharmacological interventions for schizophrenia, and gut microbiota-brain interactions. His lab explores novel treatments for neuropsychiatric disorders using animal models and molecular techniques.
Article Trends:
Recent publications analyze propofol addiction mechanisms, pandemic-induced brain changes, and food addiction neurobiology. His work bridges preclinical models and clinical applications, emphasizing translational research.
Lab and Teams:
Leads the Psychopharmacology Research Unit (founded 1997) and NPARC, collaborating on projects involving neuromodulators, addiction pharmacology, and agmatine’s therapeutic potential.
