Čedomir Markov is a Research Fellow at the Institute for Philosophy and Social Theory, University of Belgrade. He is actively affiliated with the Laboratory for Active Citizenship and Democratic Innovations and the Digital Society Lab.
His research spans political communication, media studies, and social theory, focusing on:
- Interactions between media and audiences in hybrid media environments
- Media’s role in advancing democratic innovations
- Representation of marginalized social groups in contemporary media
Markov’s recent publications address critical challenges in professional journalism, including anti-press discourse, hate speech, and public distrust in media. His work integrates interdisciplinary perspectives from political science, communication theory, and sociology.
He is currently a key participant in the Horizon Europe project 'Nets4Dem: Network of Networks for Democracy' (2023–2026), coordinating the work package 'Connecting the Scattered Knowledge on Democratic Innovations.'
Markov contributes to academic discourse through publications in journals like Journalism, Journalism Practice, and Communication & Society, emphasizing the sociopolitical dimensions of media engagement and democratic processes.
