Özlem Kayhan Pusane is a Professor of International Relations at Işık University and a member of the Faculty Executive Board. She holds a Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Notre Dame (2009) and has been teaching at Işık University since 2012.

Her research focuses on security studies, civil-military relations, and emotions in foreign policy. Recent projects analyze Turkey’s foreign policy toward Northern Iraq and the Kurdish question, with an emphasis on desecuritization and affective dynamics.
Key themes in her publications (2006-2024) include Turkish military strategy, PKK counterinsurgency, Turkey-KRG relations, and role of emotions in diplomacy. She integrates ontological security theory and critical security approaches.
