ÖMER ÇOBAN

Ömer Çoban is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Tourism, Nevşehir Hacı Bektaş Veli University. He holds a Doctorate in Tourism Management from Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University and has served as Department Head at Batman University and Vice Dean at Nevşehir University. His academic journey includes roles as Research Assistant (2008), Lecturer (2014–2018), and Associate Professor since 2019. He has conducted research on tourism policy, event tourism, sustainable practices, and destination management.

Education: PhD in Tourism Management (2014), MA in Tourist Guidance (2019), MSc in Tourism Management (2011), and multiple undergraduate degrees in Business Administration and Public Relations. He teaches courses such as International Promotion in Tourism, Event Management, and Tourism Theories at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

Research interests focus on tourism’s socio-economic impacts, event-driven solutions to seasonality, gastronomy tourism, and environmental policies. His recent work includes studies on consumer behavior in gastronomy, service recovery in hospitality, and green event evaluation. He has supervised over 15 theses on topics like tourist behavior, destination management, and service quality.

He has led projects such as the Bozcaada Tourism Master Plan and current initiatives on thermal tourism development and tour operator capacity building. His expertise is reflected in 20+ books and 30+ peer-reviewed articles addressing tourism innovation, cultural heritage preservation, and sustainable practices.
