State University of New York at Buffaloمعرفی
Çağatay Kutluhan is an Associate Professor and Director of Graduate Studies in the Department of Mathematics at the University at Buffalo. He holds a PhD from the University of Michigan and specializes in low-dimensional topology, particularly contact and symplectic geometry and gauge theory. His research focuses on Floer homology theories and their applications to 3-manifold topology.
Research interests include:
- Developments in Heegaard Floer and Seiberg-Witten Floer homologies
- Equivalence proofs between different Floer homology theories
- Contact invariants and their computational aspects
- Applications to open book decompositions and Stein fillability
His publications demonstrate consistent focus on establishing equivalences between Floer homology theories and developing computational tools for topological invariants, with recent work emphasizing contact topology applications.
Current PhD advisees include Aadhishwaran Bhuvara, Yen-Lin Chen, Carolyn Engelhardt, and Justin Haverlick. Past PhD students are Subhankar Dey (2021) and Hakan Doga (2021).
Research is supported by a Simons Foundation Grant (Award No. 519352), with past funding from NSF awards. He maintains active GitHub repositories for computational topology tools and organizes the annual UB Geometry and Topology Seminar.
