João Manuel Paiva Cardoso is a Full Professor at the Department of Informatics Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, University of Porto, and a research member of INESC TEC. He currently serves as Department Director and Chairman of the Department Council for the Department of Informatics Engineering. His educational background includes: Electronics Engineering degree from the University of Aveiro (1993) MSc in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the Technical University of Lisbon (1997) PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the Technical University of Lisbon (2001) His research focuses on compilation and high-level synthesis techniques, domain-specific languages, reconfigurable computing, and hardware/software codesign. He has co-authored over 200 scientific publications including a Springer book, two edited Springer books, and three LNCS volumes. His conference leadership roles include General Chair for IEEE ASAP'2023 and FPL'2013, demonstrating significant contributions to reconfigurable computing and embedded systems domains. He has coordinated major research projects such as the EU FP7 REFLECT project (2010-2012) as co-scientific coordinator and the H2020 FET-HPC ANTAREX project as technical manager, alongside nationally funded initiatives. He holds senior memberships in IEEE and ACM, and is a member of the IEEE Computer Society.
