Dr. Kathryn Sinden is an Associate Professor in the Department of Kinesiology at Lakehead University and holds an adjunct appointment in Health Sciences. She focuses on preventing workplace injuries through applied ergonomics and knowledge translation initiatives, collaborating with employers, workers, and stakeholders to develop practical tools for injury prevention. Over 60% of her research focuses on public safety personnel (firefighters, paramedics), with methodologies spanning systematic reviews, movement analysis, and stakeholder-driven interventions. Scientific awards include a CIHR Post-Doctoral Fellowship and a Canadian Institutes of Health Research grant (2020). She leads student-driven research projects and has contributed to firefighter injury prevention standards through collaborations with the Ottawa Paramedic Service Research Team.
