Andrew Smith is a Researcher and Lead for Knowledge Exchange at the Wilberforce Institute, University of Hull. He serves as Manager of the Justice Hub and Coordinator of the Humber Modern Slavery Partnership, focusing on combating modern slavery through academic research, knowledge exchange, and education. His work spans four local authority areas in Humberside, aiming to disrupt exploitation, support victims, and build resilient communities. Education: MA in Criminal Justice and Crime Control (Contemporary Slavery), University of Hull (2023, part-time) Research Interests include modern slavery, homelessness, mental health, victim support, criminal justice systems, and addressing structural inequalities. He has contributed to projects assessing cultural competency in anti-slavery efforts and taught criminology, nursing, social work, and business subjects. Scientific Awards: Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) Projects include "HIKE: Proactive Policing in Modern Slavery" and an assessment of cultural competency in addressing modern slavery risks for marginalized communities.
