Julien Xavier Daubanes is an Associate Professor at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU), affiliated with the Department of Technology, Management and Economics under DTU MANAGEMENT. He also serves as an External Researcher at MIT's Center for Energy and Environmental Policy Research (CEEPR) and a CESifo Research Fellow. His research focuses on environmental economics, particularly climate policy, energy transition, and sustainable finance. Daubanes holds an M.Sc. in Economic Theory and Econometrics (2004) and a Ph.D. in Economics (2007) from the Toulouse School of Economics. He received the 2008 French Economic Association Thesis Prize for his doctoral work. His research explores energy market responses to climate policies, corporate voluntary actions like green bonds, and the interplay between finance and decarbonization. He has published in top journals such as the American Economic Journal: Economic Policy and the Journal of Public Economics. Daubanes has secured significant grants, including the Carlsberg Foundation's Accelerate Grant (DKK 4.99 million) and a joint grant from the Danish Council for Independent Research and Swiss National Science Foundation. He co-edits Resource and Energy Economics and organized the DTU-KU International Workshop in Energy and Resource Economics and Policy. Awarded the Geneva Institute for Wealth Management Research Grant for 'Optimal Climate Finance' (2024) Recipient of grants totaling over CHF 1.2 million for research on 'The Role of Internal Carbon Pricing' (2024) His work also bridges academia and policy, with recent contributions on Russian oil export price caps and the dynamics of shadow fleets. He actively engages with policymakers and financial institutions through articles, interviews, and workshops.
