Andreas Weiermann is a Professor at Ghent University in the Department of Analysis, Logic and Discrete Mathematics. He holds international experience in mathematics, logic, and computer science, with a focus on foundational theoretical research. His research interests include: Proof theory Subrecursive hierarchies Term rewriting Well partial orderings Analytic combinatorics of the transfinite Phase transitions for Gödel incompleteness He has been recognized through notable fellowships: Grant of the Studienstiftung des Deutschen Volkes (1985-1988) Heisenberg grant of the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (1998-2005) Additionally, he contributes to academic administration, such as leading the mathematics teaching committee (2010-2014) and serving as Editor for the Springer series Trends in Logic . Outside academia, he is an avid chess player (ELO ~2250) and landscape/abstract painter, with exhibitions and online galleries showcasing his work.
