Associate Professor
Aslı GÜNAY is an Associate Professor in the Department of Economics at the Faculty of Political Sciences, Ankara Social Sciences University, where she has been serving since 2016 (initially as Assistant Professor and promoted to Associate Professor in 2023). She previously held academic positions at Karabük University, Bilkent University, and Başkent University. Her academic career spans over two decades, with a focus on higher education policy and economics. Her educational background includes: PhD in Economics from Süleyman Demirel University (2016) Master's Degree in Economics from Bilkent University (2001) Bachelor's Degree in Economics from Middle East Technical University (1999) Professor GÜNAY specializes in higher education policy, with particular expertise in higher education financing, management, and policy analysis. Her research examines critical issues in the Turkish higher education system, including university rankings, financial efficiency, pandemic impacts on academic productivity, and the relationship between higher education and economic development. She employs both quantitative and qualitative methodologies in her research, often utilizing data envelopment analysis and comparative policy analysis approaches. Her recent publications (2020-2024) demonstrate a strong focus on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on higher education and the economy, university rankings and economic performance, vocational education, and doctoral programs in social sciences. Her work shows a consistent pattern of examining Turkish higher education within global contexts, with particular attention to policy implications and practical applications.
