Adam Tooze is the Kathryn and Shelby Cullom Davis Professor of History at Columbia University, where he also serves as Director of the European Institute. He teaches in the Department of History within the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, focusing on twentieth-century and contemporary history with specializations in economic history, political history, and international relations. Tooze's research spans modern German history, the history of economics, and global economic crises. His work examines the intersection of economics and politics across the Atlantic world, with recent focus on China's economic challenges, European energy policy, and pandemic economics. His scholarship bridges academic rigor with public discourse, making complex economic issues accessible to broader audiences.
