Visiting Professor
Professor Lance Leslie is a Visiting Professor at the School of Mathematical and Physical Sciences, University of Technology Sydney (UTS). He holds a PhD from Monash University and has extensive academic experience, including Professor roles at the University of Oklahoma (2002–2017) and the University of New South Wales (1994–2001). Prior to academia, he worked as a Senior Principal Research Scientist and Research Scientist at CSIRO (Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation). His research focuses on climate science, meteorology, and environmental modeling. Key interests include extreme weather event analysis, climate change impacts on regional systems, and machine learning applications in environmental science. He has contributed to studies on polar jet dynamics, drought prediction, and hydrologic modeling using tools like the SWAT framework. Leslie supervises research students in climate-related disciplines and has collaborated on projects addressing future climate and land use scenarios. His work emphasizes interdisciplinary approaches to environmental challenges, combining atmospheric science with computational methods.
