Dr. Maciej Dębski serves as a Lecturer at the University of Gdańsk's Faculty of Social Sciences within the Department of Sociology of Sport and Health. His institutional affiliation includes active participation in the Pomeranian Centre for Cultural Research and the Pomeranian Forum for Exiting Homelessness in Gdańsk. His research concentrates on critical social issues with primary focus on homelessness studies (including sociodemographic profiling, prison reintegration, and social service systems), sociology of religion (examining transitions in Polish religiosity), and domestic violence . His methodological approach combines sociodemographic research with field observation techniques, particularly evident in his covert studies of homeless begging practices. Analysis of his 15 most recent publications reveals a strong regional emphasis on Pomeranian Province, with consistent application of mixed-method approaches to homelessness research. His work demonstrates increasing specialization in penitentiary reintegration systems since 2010, while maintaining his foundational interest in religious sociology. Dr. Dębski has held significant editorial responsibilities for the Forum. About homelessness without fear publication series (Years II-VI) and co-edited multiple comprehensive volumes including Faces of Homelessness (2008) and Psychosocial profile of homeless people in the Tricity (2008). His institutional engagement includes membership in the Polish Sociological Society (Gdańsk branch), International Society for the Sociology of Religion, and the Pomeranian Forum for Exiting Homelessness.
