Visiting Assistant Professor
Adam Syvertsen is a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of English at Northwestern University’s Weinberg College of Arts & Sciences. He holds a Ph.D. from Northwestern University. His research integrates narratology, critical theory, and political economy to explore utopian representations in the Atlantic World since the late 18th century. He emphasizes the interplay between literary and social speculation, advocating for utopian imagery’s role in inspiring revolutionary political action. His work includes an upcoming article in J19: The Journal of Nineteenth-Century Americanists . Education: Ph.D., Northwestern University His research interests focus on utopian studies, 19th-century American literature, and the intersections of political economy with literary analysis.
